This course is for experienced HPB surgeons, but robotic beginners. Knowledge of the basic technology is required. In this regard, we offer an optional day 0.

Day 0: basic technology training given by an Orsi trainer*

Day 1: 

  • assessment of knowledge of basic technology*
  • simulator training
  • hands-on dry lab (galbladder - liver)
  • lecture: how to get started with robotics in HPB surgery: tips and tricks

Day 2:

  • simulator training
  • hands-on dry lab (pancreas 3D model): pancreatic tail resection, Whipple
  • simulation assessment
  • lecture: patient positioning and trocar placement

*In case of no prior experience, basic technology training is provided on 12/10/2020 (registration required).

After completion, participants receive an Orsi Academy certificate of attendance + CME credits.

basic technology training (day 0):

  • member E-AHPBA: € 200
  • non-member E-AHPBA: € 600 

level 1 robotic course (day 1 + 2):

  • member E-AHPBA: € 2000
  • non-member E-AHPBA: € 3000 

The price includes:

  • 2-day course program including theoretical sessions and use of the da Vinci systems
  • course material
  • certificate of attendance
  • coffee - tea breaks
  • lunch + dinner
  • 2 nights accommodation including breakfast + city tax (+ 1 extra night in case of registration for the optional Training Course)

Please note that it is mandatory to register on the e-learning platform ( and to complete the participant profile prior to the course. Lab access shall be refused to people without a registered account.

Step-by-step videos with explanatory textual information are provided in the video-library next to didactic material. Proctors can push specific content to course participants prior to the course or allow alumni to consult course material later on in their career. Next to these sections, links to a wide variety of discipline-specific literature can be found on the platform.
