The 2-day masterclass consists of:

  • 1 day of basic robotic training including set-up procedure, system overview, simulator exercises and dry-lab training.
  • 1 day of improving robotic skills via wet-lab training on porcine model.

This is a customized pogram. The topics and level can be discussed in advance with the expert, depending on your needs.

LIVER AND PANCREATIC SURGERY

Day 1 - Dry and wet lab session

9:00 - Introduction to the course + first lecture regarding robotic approach for liver and pancreas.

9:30 - System overview, port placement, docking process.

10:00 - Initial simulator assessment and training.

11:00 - Dry lab training (peg transfer, ring and rail, suture techniques)

12:00 - Lunch

12:30 - Wet lab setting with isolated liver: cholecystectomy; isolated bowel and tubular structure to practice anastomosis (pancreaticojejunostomy, coledoco-jejunostomy)

Day 2 - Hands-on session

9:00 -  Port placement on the porcine model, performing the robotic assisted cholecystectomy, pancreatic dissection, pancreatic section, anastomosis…

13:00 - Lunch break

13:30 - Liver dissection (Bipolar Maryland, Harmonic, Vessel Sealer); anastomosis; if possible, vascular injury repair…

16:30 - Final simulator assessment

 

UPPER GI SURGERY

Day 1 - Dry and wet lab session

9:00 - Introduction to the course + first lecture regarding robotic approach for upper GI Surgery.

9:30 - System overview, port placement, docking process.

10:00 - Initial simulator assessment and training.

11:00 - Dry lab training (peg transfer, ring and rail, suture techniques)

12:00 - Lunch

12:30 - Wet lab setting with isolated liver for cholecystectomy; isolated bowel loops for esophago-jejunal and entero-enteral anastomosis simulation

17:30 -Transfer to Hotel

Day 2 - Hands-on session

9:00 -  Port placement on the porcine model, performing the robotic assisted cholecystectomy, Nissen fundoplication, lymphadenectomy.

13:00 - Lunch break

13:30 - Gastroenteral and/or enteroenteral anastomosis; if possible, vascular injury repair.

16:30 - Final simulator assessment
