Are you an experienced urologist with advanced robotic expertise looking to perfect your technique in renal transplant surgery? This 3-day masterclass at Orsi Academy offers an exclusive opportunity to sharpen your skills through intensive, hands-on training and real-life surgical insights.
What to expect
- Two full days of immersive wet lab training on robotic kidney transplantation
- A third day dedicated to live case observation, either on-site at UZ Gent Hospital or via livestream at Orsi Academy (depending on the session)
- A strong focus on team performance: participants are encouraged to bring their regular first assistant (separate registration required; no console time included for assistants)

What you will learn
- You will learn how to properly prepare the kidney for transplantation.
- You will learn how to position the patient and how to place the trocars.
- You will learn how to prepare the iliac vessels and the bladder for anastomosis.
- You will learn how to prepare the retroperitoneal pouch.
Prerequisites
- The trainee is a urologist, general surgeon or vascular surgeon.
- The trainee has experience in kidney transplantation.
- The trainee has previous experience as a console surgeon.

- Re-do full anastomosis technique of donor kidney

Option 1: Live case observations at UZ Ghent Hospital
- 08:00: Arrival at the University Hospital of Ghent
- 08:30: Live case observation of a robotic kidney transplantation
- 13:00: Lunch break depending on the case
- End of live case observation is depending on the specific transplant case
Option 2: Live case streaming at Orsi Academy
- 08:40: Arrival at Orsi Academy
- 09:00: Broadcasted case from Fundació Puigvert Hospital in Barcelona or semi-live cases to Orsi Academy
- 13:00: Lunch break
- 13:30: Continue live case streaming
- 17:00: End of live case broadcast is depending on the specific transplant cases.

First Assistant fee 2026
This reduced fee applies exclusively to surgical first assistants who accompany a console surgeon. The fee covers access to all course sessions, observation of robotic procedures, and participation in assistant-specific activities, but does not include console training.
