General info
An exclusive opportunity for one-to-one training with an expert in single-port robotic surgery!
This 1-day immersive training course is designed for experienced robotic surgeons seeking to further refine their skills in single-port retroperitoneal access and partial nephrectomy.
Through a focused combination of advanced didactic sessions, expert surgical demonstrations, and high-fidelity human cadaveric hands-on training, participants will gain in-depth exposure to Lower Anterior Access (LAA), optimized port placement strategies, and key robotic reconstruction techniques using the da Vinci SP® system. The course emphasizes technical refinement, anatomical orientation, and procedural decision-making.
The course emphasizes ergonomics, procedural efficiency, and complication avoidance, providing an expert-level environment for the exchange of ideas and best practices among leaders in robotic urologic surgery.
What you will learn
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the anatomical landmarks and retroperitoneal working space essential for single-port renal surgery.
- Execute safe and efficient SARA (Supine Anterior Retroperitoneal Access) or lateral access techniques.
- Demonstrate SP docking, instrument triangulation, and console ergonomics for retroperitoneal cases.
- Perform clamping, tumor excision, and renorrhaphy with optimized console flow.
- Identify and troubleshoot intraoperative challenges, including limited instrument reach, retraction, and suturing constraints.
- Integrate preoperative imaging and intraoperative navigation (CT, 3D reconstruction, or AI-assisted segmentation) to enhance precision.
Prerequisites
- Board-certified urologists or senior fellows with some prior SP experience
- Surgeons currently performing transperitoneal robotic partial nephrectomy seeking to transition to or integrate retroperitoneal single-port approaches
- Faculty surgeons and program directors developing single-port curricula
