General info

Elevate your bariatric expertise with this intensive 2-day course at Orsi Academy. Led by expert faculty, the program provides a comprehensive, step-by-step approach to robotic Roux-en-Y and One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB). Through high-fidelity wet lab and porcine models, delegates will refine essential skills in robotic stapling, port placement, and complex anastomotic reconstruction.

This course is specifically designed to bridge the learning curve and provide the clinical insights necessary to successfully implement a high-standard robotic bariatric program.

What you will learn

  • Perform a robotic-assisted gastric bypass using a standardized, step-by-step approach, from pouch creation to jejunojejunostomy.
  • Master port placement, docking processes, and the selection of the appropriate instrument portfolio for bariatric procedures.
  • Improve advanced suturing and stapling skills, specifically for side-to-side anastomoses and the closure of enterotomies.
  • Gain the logistical and clinical insights required to transition from a traditional bariatric practice to a successful robotic program.

Prerequisites

  • The trainee must have consistent access to a robotic surgical system at their home institution.
  • Applicants should possess basic robotic proficiency, acquired through bedside assisting, initial procedural experience, or the completion of a basic skills course.
  • This curriculum is tailored for those who have recently started their robotic program for bariatric surgery
