General info

Orsi Academy offers a Basic Course in Robotic Liver Resection for surgeons at the start of their robotic HPB journey who want a solid foundation in robot-assisted hepatectomy. The program provides a comprehensive overview of the procedure, a structured set-up for liver resection, and a step-by-step approach to parenchymal transection using the robotic platform.

This 2-day course consists of:

  • One day of hands-on training on the da Vinci system at Orsi Academy training labs on live animal tissue (porcine model).
  • One day of live case observation with key steps and practical tips by Dr. Mathieu D'Hondt

What you will learn

  • To comprehensively cover the robotic assisted hepatectomy.
  • Having a structured overview of the robotic set-up for the liver resection including port placement and docking process.
  • Learn step by step the parenchymal transection technique with the robotic approach.

Prerequisites

  • The trainee has basic knowledge of the robotic system and familiarity with HBP procedures.
  • The trainee bas experience in bedside assistance during liver resection or has performed approximately 5-10 cases.
