General info
The world's first validated training curriculum in urological robotic surgery!
Develop your robotic surgical skills through a validated, proficiency-based training curriculum. Designed for robot-naïve urology fellows, residents and urologists, this programme combines preparatory e-learning with five days of intensive on-site training at Orsi Academy.
Jointly organised by Orsi Academy and KU Leuven as a microcredential, the programme helps you build basic and procedure-specific skills for robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.
What to expect
- Hands-on training in basic and procedural skills using tissue-based training models
- Interactive theoretical lectures and live surgery broadcasts
- Structured practice, expert feedback and assessment against predefined proficiency benchmarks
Preparation and study format
Before attending the on-site training, you must complete the preparatory e-learning and achieve the required benchmark. No additional assignments are required outside the e-learning and on-site programme.
Assessment and certification
You receive a Certificate of Attendance following attendance. Achieving the practical proficiency benchmark also earns you a PBP Certificate of Proficiency in the Lab.
If you have not reached proficiency by the end of day five, an additional remediation day will be arranged at no extra course fee. Travel and accommodation costs are excluded.
How to apply
Select ‘Apply for this course’ to submit your application. Our team will review it and email you the outcome. If accepted, you will receive a confirmation and payment request. Your place is secured once payment is completed.
Our Travel & Hospitality Officers will then contact you to assist with the practical arrangements.
Member benefits
- EAU members: 15% discount with EAUMEMBER2026. A valid EAU membership ID is required.
- SIU members: 10% discount with SIU10.

What you will learn
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate fundamental robotic surgical skills, including suturing, knot tying, dissection and coagulation.
- Describe the key procedural steps of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.
- Apply procedure-specific techniques for robot-assisted radical prostatectomy using laboratory training models.
- Explain the principles of nerve-sparing techniques in robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.
- Demonstrate basic and procedure-specific robotic skills against predefined proficiency benchmarks using the proficiency-based progression (PBP) methodology.
Prerequisites
Participants must:
- Be able to communicate in English.
- Have access to a surgical robotic system at their hospital.
- Complete the preparatory e-learning and achieve the required benchmark before attending the on-site training.
