New students joined the Junior Orsi network
On the 10th of November, Junior Orsi hosted its second matriculation. Twenty-five applicants were selected to participate in a poster competition about innovative medicine. Among the participants were Flemish students from different medical & engineering faculties. The aim of the poster competition was to emphasize the collaboration between medical professionals & engineers in the world of innovative healthcare. Something we strongly encourage as Orsi Academy.
A jury of experts, consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir. Pascal Verdonck, Prof. Dr. Luc Cornette & Antoon Dierckx, had the honor to choose their three favorite presentations. Also, the audience had the chance to vote for their personal favorite.
Among the subjects were some interesting insights about nanotechnology & portable imaging devices but in the end the winners were:
- Bram Logghe: CrisprCas9 - Targeted Genome Editing
- Emiel Matthys: Effectiveness of the Propeller Health Asthma Program
- Nina Versin: Atomnet - Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery
A decision was made based upon the choice of subject, the poster lay-out, the overall knowledge about the subject & presentation skills. Mathias Vissers scored extremely well on this last aspect and therefore won the audience award. He did a presentation about 'Bioengineering An Electrically Oscillating Cell for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring'.
This second matriculation was again a great success. It is with pleasure that we can announce a new expansion of the Junior Orsi network with 25 enthusiastic students.
