Orsi Academy puts Flanders on the global map for healthcare innovation
We had the honor of welcoming a high-level delegation from the Polish Ministry of Health, accompanied by Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele. Together, we showcased how Flanders is becoming a global hotspot for healthcare innovation.
Poland sets a world first
Poland is on its way to becoming the first country in the world to embed official, standardized training in robotic surgery into its national healthcare system. And they are doing so with Orsi Academy’s Proficiency-Based Progression (PBP) methodology, the gold standard we developed to train surgeons based on measurable skills rather than just experience or numbers of procedures.
This means: safer surgeries, better outcomes for patients!
A flemish innovation story
Minister-President Matthias Diependaele joined the visit to underline the international impact of our work:
Innovation drives our prosperity. Thanks to our pioneering researchers and entrepreneurs, Flanders is not only growing economically, but also improving patient care worldwide.
First-ever telesurgery with Poland
The highlight of the day? Two live telesurgeries between Melle and Poland!
While the surgeon operated from Orsi Academy’s training labs, the patient was in a Polish hospital. With robotic technology, the procedure was carried out in real time – across borders, without physical presence. A groundbreaking demonstration of how distance is no longer a barrier in healthcare.
With this historic step, Poland makes history, and Flanders proves its role as a world leader in healthcare innovation.
”For the very first time, this is happening right here in Europe, with Flanders and Orsi Academy leading the way.
